The Story Behind the Heat
Hot Blessings was born from generations of Southern roots and a legacy of flavor. Although Dr. Terry Johnsson was raised in the Pacific Northwest, his family's deep Louisiana heritage shaped his love for food and tradition. Every summer, Terry spent time on the old family farms where he learned the art of hot sauce-making—an art passed down through nearly 100 years of pepper-growing.
Inspired by his mother’s gift for serving comfort through home-cooked meals, Terry created Hot Blessings not just to honor family tradition, but to give back. A portion of every bottle sold supports The Soulful Plate, a nonprofit that provides culturally sensitive meals to seniors in the Portland Metro Area.
